About
“Preventing Skynet” is a project by a group of people who are enthusiastic about the potential of artificial intelligence, but are concerned about how it will act if we don’t program it to be friendly to humans, and ensure that it retains that friendliness as its intelligence increases.
For more on our cause, read “What is the Singularity?”, “Why Work Towards the Singularity?”, and “Artificial Intelligence as a Positive and Negative Factor in Global Risk”.

It would be nice to cross-fertilize a dialogue between those interested in this blog and “friendly AI” and those in more academic contexts who study the subject under headings such as machine morality, machine ethics, and roboethics.

Wendell, it sure would. I’m reading your book right now and compiling a list of many of the academics you mention. I’ll be thinking of creative ways to cross-fertilize dialog and moving forward on that soon. Thanks for reading.
